ISPU’s Study of Muslim Marriages Shows Need for Action

ISPU (Institute for Social Policy and Understanding) recently released its study of Muslim marriage and divorce, highlighting the increasing problem of failed marriages and making a loud call for masjids and Muslim leaders to make the promotion of healthy marriages a priority.

Their recommendations to Imams and mosque leadership include:

  • Commit to making healthy marriages a top priority for the American Muslim community.
  • Offer a diverse selection of community education programs focused on healthy marriages.
  • Celebrate healthy marriages.
  • Develop a marriage database.
  • Emphasize the importance of premarital counseling and couple check ups.
